Northern Ireland Finance Minister Sammy Wilson MP MLA announced his decision in October 2009 to postpone the non-domestic rating Revaluation in Northern Ireland. The Minister stated that the reason for the postponement is the current economic downturn. The decision means that ratepayers will not be billed on the new values until April 2011.
Your new rating assessments are now likely to be published around December 2010 ahead of the bills issuing in April 2011. However, the valuation date will remain as 1 April 2008, a time when property values were particularly difficult to assess. Market conditions were uncertain and coming off the back of a long period of sustained growth.
