BTWShiells Appointed To Sell W G Mitchell Northern Ireland Property Portfolio
Fiona Taylor, Colin Dempster and Andrew Davison, of Ernst and Young LLP, Administrators to W G Mitchell (Derry) Limited and associated companies, has appointed BTWShiells to sell the Northern Ireland portfolio of W G Mitchell.
The portfolio includes Richmond Centre in Derry together with 10 industrial, office and retail properties located in Derry, Portadown and Antrim. The properties are to be offered for sale individually.
Keith Shiells commented that Richmond Centre represents the first sale of a major shopping centre in Northern Ireland for several years. Richmond Centre was built by the Government in the 1980’s and comprises a multi-level shopping centre with 50 units let to a mix of national and local retailers.
Richmond Centre will appeal because of its freehold title and its prime city centre location in Northern Ireland’s second city. Richmond Centre’s trade has held up remarkably well in the current recession partly due to the bumper trade it enjoys from its proximity to the Irish Republic and the fact that the tenant profile is based on “value” rather than “premium brand” retailers.
Stuart Draffin also commented that the remaining commercial properties, which are located around the province, will appeal to a range of private investors, existing tenants and adjoining property owners.
